All In For Life - Lifehouse

I was listening to an old song from 16 years ago, “All In” by Lifehouse. It took me back to my time of struggle, when I fell for temptation every time. I believed in God at the time, but He wasn't my Savior. During this time in my life, I took every opportunity to give in to my flesh while also trying to reach for Jesus.

I was trying to fill a God-sized hole with sin-sized pieces. Every time I acted out, the separation between Jesus and me would grow. One step forward and five steps back was my daily song.

The third line in the chorus hit hard. It spelled out exactly what I was doing to my relationship with Jesus. Our relationship was just a small seed at the time, waiting for me to grab the water of life and drown out my addiction for good. The chorus goes as follows:

“And I'm all in, nothing left to hide
I've fallen harder than a landslide
I spent a week away from you last night
And now I'm calling, calling out your name
Even if I lose the game
I'm all in, I'm all in tonight
Yeah, I'm all in, I'm all in for life “

After hearing

…. I spent a week away from you last night.....

the water works began. Getting hit with tears early in the morning while DRIVING was not a good combination. Every time temptation got the best of me I would be pushing Jesus away, turn my back on Him, and close the door. That one moment alone in my sin caused a week long race uphill to catch up. The one sin caused me to ...spend a week away from Jesus last night...
